Reduced Energy Costs
Does it seem like no matter what you do your Utility Bill and energy consumption never drop? The biggest energy consumer in the home is the HVAC system. Heating in the winter or Air Conditioning your home in the summer consumes the most of your utility bill. Even with a brand new energy efficient air conditioner or furnace your home could be wasting as much as 40% or more from unsealed air ducts.
Consistent Temperature
Have you wondered why some bedrooms are always cold? Are certain rooms too warm despite constantly adjusting the thermostat? Leaks from small holes and seams in your duct work can prevent air from reaching the intended rooms. This leaves these areas uncomfortable.
Indoor Air Quality
We spend the majority of our time indoors either at work or at our home. A stuffy indoor environment that lacks proper air circulation can lead to health issues, including the spreading of viruses, and allergens. Keeping our indoor air healthy is crucial to maintaining not only our physical but our mental health with fresh clean air!
Why Choose Aeroseal
Often Conditioned air will leak into wall cavities, under floors, or into attics. Aeroseal allows the heating and cooling system to evenly deliver conditioned air to the proper areas of your home by sealing all the seams and holes from the inside. This can eliminate hot and cold zones, help to balance air flow and humidity, and allow you to get the most out of your HVAC system. If possible sealing Return ducts aids in stopping the spread of dust and allergens that collect between the joists, and inside wall cavaties.
How Aeroseal Works
Aeroseal works by sealing your duct from the inside, from the floor register right to your furnace or air conditioner including the duct you can’t see in the walls. The whole process generally happens in the span of a 6 to 8 hour day or longer depending on the size of your home. First thing we do is seal off all the registers, then we attach the Aeroseal machine to your ducting. This then pressurizes your ductwork and uses a computer and pressure sensors to determine how much air is leaking into unwanted spaces thru holes and seams. After it records the preliminary readings it starts the sealing process. Injecting a polymer into the airstream and plugging any leaks as the air escapes, slowly increasing the pressure and amount of polymer finding the larger holes.
Aeroseal does not coat the entire inside surface of the duct but rather only coats the areas around holes and seams until they are sealed. It will plug holes up to a half inch in diameter. After the aeroseal process is complete the team does another pressure test and confirms the results of the seal, generating a report and certificate.
- Preseal test to measure the leakage as a baseline for measuring progress.
- Block off the registers with foam or plastic.
- Inject an UL tested and approved aerosol into the duct system.
- Since the air has no place to go except out through the leaks (the registers are blocked), the sealant material is deposited precisely at the air duct holes or cracks where leakage occurs.
- Computerized sensors are used to measure and control the progress.
- Postseal test to measure improvements.
- Complete report and certificate printed on the spot to provide a record of improvements.
